I. Core Material Properties
The material of the pulse valve diaphragm is the key to determining its performance. Dahe pulse valve diaphragms mostly use elastomer materials. The common types and their characteristics are as follows:
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR):
Advantages: Good oil resistance, suitable for working conditions with oil mist; moderate elasticity and low cost.
Limitations: General temperature resistance (usually -20℃~120℃), weak ozone aging resistance.
Fluoroelastomer (FKM):
Advantages: Excellent high and low temperature resistance (-20℃~above 200℃), strong resistance to chemical corrosion, ozone and aging, suitable for high-temperature and strong corrosive working conditions (such as chemical industry, metallurgy industry).
Limitations: Higher cost, slightly lower elasticity than nitrile rubber.
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM):
Advantages: Good weather resistance and ozone resistance, resistant to water vapor and weak acid corrosion, and applicable to a wide temperature range (-40℃~150℃).
Limitations: Poor oil resistance, not suitable for oil-containing environments.
Some high-end models will use composite materials (such as rubber combined with fabric skeleton) to enhance tear resistance and strength.
II. Physical and Mechanical Properties
Elasticity and Resilience:
The diaphragm needs to open and close quickly under the impact of high-frequency (several to dozens of times per minute) pulse airflow. Therefore, it must have high elasticity to ensure that the sealing surface fits tightly without leakage; resilience ensures that it is not easy to deform after long-term use.
Tensile Strength and Tear Strength:
During operation, the diaphragm will be subjected to tensile force generated by air pressure. Insufficient tensile strength can easily lead to rupture; tear strength prevents further expansion of edges or tiny damaged areas, extending the service life.
Hardness:
Materials with Shore hardness of 60~80A are usually used. Too low hardness can easily lead to poor sealing, and too high hardness will affect elasticity and response speed.
Temperature Resistance:
The appropriate material is selected according to the working temperature. For example, fluororubber diaphragms are needed for high-temperature dust collectors (flue gas temperature above 120℃), and nitrile rubber diaphragms can be used for normal temperature working conditions.
III. Working Characteristics
Sealing Performance:
The fitting surface between the diaphragm and the valve seat needs to be precisely processed to ensure complete sealing when there is no pulse signal, preventing compressed air leakage, and avoiding energy waste and reduction of dust removal efficiency.
Response Speed:
Triggered by the pulse control signal, it needs to open quickly (usually in milliseconds) to make compressed air spray into the filter bag instantly to complete ash cleaning; it also closes quickly to reduce invalid jet time.
Medium Resistance:
It needs to withstand moisture and oil stains in compressed air (or clean air after drying and purification), as well as dust that may flow back (such as when the filter bag is damaged). Therefore, it must have the characteristics of wear resistance and chemical erosion resistance.

Improper maintenance (such as a large amount of moisture in compressed air leading to accelerated aging of the diaphragm) will significantly shorten its service life.
